The School of Play Curriculum
Primary School Foundation - Grade Two

Week Five focuses on blending physical activity, emotional reflection, and healthy habits through fun, active, and creative experiences. Students begin with PSR Master, a full-body twist on Paper, Scissors, Rock that gets them moving, thinking quickly, and cooperating with classmates. This is followed by My Healthy Body Plan, where students explore what helps them feel strong and well, identifying healthy habits and reflecting on how these choices support their physical and emotional health. Both activities encourage students to participate enthusiastically, think about their bodies, and make positive choices.
The week continues with Alice in Wonderland Movement Adventure, giving students a chance to engage their imaginations while staying active through themed exercises and storytelling. Finally, Emoji Naughts & Crosses offers a playful space for emotional reflection, using emojis to help students recognise feelings and communicate openly with peers. Together, these activities promote fitness, creativity, and emotional awareness, assisting students to build healthy habits, express themselves, and develop confidence in a supportive, fun environment.

Weekly Lessons
PSR Master
PSR Master is a high-energy, full-body twist on the classic game Paper, Scissors, Rock, designed to get students moving, laughing, and thinking fast. Instead of using hands, players use their entire bodies, stretching wide for Paper, chomping their arms for Scissors, and curling tight like a Rock. Each round, students face off against the instructor, earning points based on whether they win, draw, or lose. Every outcome sends students into a different physical challenge, from static holds to quick exercises to short runs, keeping the game dynamic, exciting, and engaging from start to finish.
This activity is all about enthusiasm, teamwork, and having a blast while being active. Students practise decision-making, coordination, and sportsmanship as they move through rapid rounds and full-body actions. With room for variations like fitness challenges, teamwork editions, or simplified children’s play, PSR Master is the perfect warm-up, energiser, or session finisher for groups of any size. It builds confidence, boosts energy, and turns a simple game into a lively physical workout that students absolutely love.

My Healthy Body Plan
My Healthy Body Plan invites students to pause and think about the simple habits that help them feel strong, energised, and ready for their day. Through writing or drawing, students explore everyday actions, like eating well, moving their bodies, sleeping enough, or connecting with others, that contribute to their overall health. This gentle reflection helps students understand that looking after their body isn’t just something adults talk about; it’s something they can actively do themselves to feel good inside and out.
As students map out their healthy habits, they also consider how each one makes them feel, building a powerful link between behaviour and well-being. The activity encourages ownership and confidence as each child chooses one healthy habit to focus on for the day. Whether used individually or shared in a group through a class brainstorm or Healthy Body Plan Wall, this simple, creative task fosters awareness, motivation, and pride in taking small steps toward a healthier, happier life.

Emoji Naughts & Crosses
Emoji Naughts & Crosses turns a classic game into a playful way for young students to recognise, reflect on, and share their emotions. Each square on the board features an emoji that prompts students to think about a time they felt that emotion, helping them connect their real-life experiences to simple visual cues. Before placing their X or O, students talk with their partner about the emoji in the square they’ve chosen, encouraging verbal expression, confidence, and emotional awareness in a safe, familiar format.
As the game unfolds, students practise taking turns, listening, and sharing their feelings while working toward three in a row. The light structure makes reflection feel fun and approachable, and the emoji prompts help even reluctant communicators open up. Whether used as a warm-up, a well-being check-in, or a classroom connection activity, Emoji Naughts & Crosses supports communication, empathy, and cooperation while keeping the focus on playful, child-friendly engagement.
