The School of Play Curriculum

Primary School Grade 3 & 4

Week 11

Week Eleven brings together fitness, fun, gratitude, and teamwork in a balanced blend of movement and reflection. Students take part in high-energy activities like B’Gawk and Three Dice Step Up, where they practise quick thinking, coordination, and resilience while staying active and engaged. These games encourage students to focus, react quickly, and support their peers as they complete shared challenges. Alongside the physical components, students also explore greater emotional skills that strengthen group connection and enhance well-being.

Through reflective tasks like My Gratitude List and the team-based Gratitude & Kindness Family Fraud, students practise recognising the positive aspects of their lives and the kindness that surrounds them. They learn to communicate openly, appreciate others, and build a culture of support and encouragement within the group. Together, the activities in Week Eleven reinforce the importance of gratitude, connection, fitness, and fun, helping students grow socially, emotionally, and physically while creating a classroom environment filled with positivity, teamwork, and shared success.

Play Activities

B'Gawk

B’Gawk is a hilarious, fast-paced circle game that gets everyone laughing, thinking quickly, and moving their bodies. Players pass the action around the circle by shooting out a hand and calling “B’Gawk!”, forcing the next person to be alert, react instantly, and keep the chain going. With the added challenge of optional squats after every action and quick penalties for hesitation, the game becomes a brilliant mix of physical movement, rhythm, coordination, and playful chaos. It’s designed to sharpen focus, build reaction speed, and keep the entire group fully immersed from start to finish.

As the game builds momentum and the occasional “B’Gawken!” flips the direction, students strengthen their ability to think on their feet while enjoying a shared moment of silliness. The fitness elements weave naturally into the fun, giving players the chance to move, laugh, and connect without feeling like they’re “working out.” B’Gawk is perfect as a warm-up, energiser, or connection starter, creating an environment where teamwork, laughter, and fast thinking blend into one unforgettable burst of playful energy.

Written Activities

My Gratitude List

My Gratitude List is a simple but powerful reflective activity that helps students pause, think, and appreciate the positive parts of their lives. By identifying five things they are grateful for, people, experiences, opportunities, qualities, or moments of kindness, students begin to build a habit of noticing the good around them. This activity stretches their understanding of gratitude beyond material items, encouraging them to recognise relationships, personal strengths, challenges they’ve overcome, and meaningful opportunities. It’s a gentle way to build emotional awareness and encourage students to reflect on what makes their day brighter.

After listing their five items, students take the reflection deeper by writing why each one matters to them and how it positively influences their life. They finish by considering how practising gratitude affects their mood and well-being, helping them recognise the emotional lift that comes from focusing on positives. My Gratitude List strengthens resilience, boosts happiness, and fosters a classroom culture where appreciation, kindness, and mindful reflection feel natural and encouraged. It’s a simple routine that leaves a lasting impact.

Exercise / Movement

Three Dice Step Up

Three Dice Step Up is a fast-paced fitness challenge that mixes movement, strategy, and the unpredictability of dice rolls to create an exciting workout experience. Players complete rounds of exercises, such as squats, push-ups, and core movements, based on the numbers rolled on one, two, or three dice. As the rounds progress, the intensity increases, with players shifting from single-dice reps to double-dice sums, and finally multiplication rounds that really test stamina and resilience. The game motivates students to push themselves physically while staying focused, managing their time, and adapting to ever-changing exercise demands.

Working individually or in teams, students cheer each other on as they race to complete as many rounds as possible within the time limit. The competitive element keeps engagement high, while the simple structure ensures everyone can participate at their own pace. Three Dice Step Up not only builds fitness and endurance, but also encourages teamwork, quick decision-making, and a fun sense of challenge as players chase their highest score.
