The School of Play Curriculum

Primary School Grade 3 & 4

Week 17

Week Seventeen brings together numeracy, teamwork, fitness, and personal growth in a highly engaging and meaningful way. Students strengthen their quick-thinking skills through active numeracy challenges, practise bravery and self-reflection, and develop strong collaborative habits through fitness-based team activities. The combination of games such as Numeracy Battle, Keep on Rolling, and Wheel of Fortune Wellness encourages students to stay physically active while applying mental strategies, solving problems together, and supporting each other’s efforts with positivity and encouragement.

This week also emphasises emotional growth, gratitude, and empathy. Through reflective activities like What Makes Me Brave? and the mindfulness stations in Wheel of Fortune Wellness, students explore moments of courage, share personal experiences, and learn how to support others in their own acts of bravery. These activities help students recognise their strengths, develop emotional intelligence, and foster a supportive, uplifting classroom community. By the end of the week, students feel more connected, confident, and empowered in both their learning and their relationships.

Play Activities

Numeracy Battle

Numeracy Battle is a fast-paced, high-energy activity that turns everyday math practice into an exciting movement-based challenge. Students listen to quick-fire numeracy questions and must solve them mentally before racing to the correct side of the room, EVEN or ODD. This simple structure creates an instant sense of urgency and engagement, pushing students to think clearly under pressure while staying physically active. The game keeps everyone on their toes and transforms traditional numeracy practice into a fun, whole-body learning experience.

As the game progresses, students build confidence in their math skills while enjoying the thrill of quick decisions and rapid movement. Whether played individually or in teams, it strengthens number recognition, mental math fluency, and quick thinking. Numeracy Battle also encourages teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship when played in groups, creating a lively and supportive environment where students learn, move, and have fun all at once.
