The School of Play Curriculum
Kindergarten

Week Five continues to strengthen children’s creativity, self-awareness, physical confidence, and gratitude through playful, imaginative activities. The week begins with the Biggest Stretch Challenge, where students explore how their bodies move through fun stretches that encourage flexibility, mindfulness, and creativity. They then shift into self-reflection with I Am Awesome, a joyful drawing activity that helps children recognise their unique strengths and share what makes them special, boosting confidence and positive self-expression in a supportive environment.
The week then brings imagination and movement together through the Alice in Wonderland Movement Adventure, an energetic, story-driven fitness experience that encourages children to hop, stretch, balance, and transform into different characters. Students finish the week with Gratitude Cloud, a collaborative art activity where they express appreciation for something meaningful and add it to a shared classroom “sky.” Together, these activities nurture emotional awareness, teamwork, confidence, and physical development. Week Five helps students connect with themselves and others while building a classroom culture filled with creativity, kindness, and joyful movement.

Weekly Lessons
Biggest Stretch Challenge
Biggest Stretch Challenge is a playful, imaginative movement activity that encourages students to explore how their bodies can move, reach, bend, and stretch in creative ways. As each child takes a turn showing the group their biggest, widest, or most imaginative stretch, they begin to understand what their bodies can do while building flexibility, balance, and coordination. The activity invites students to be expressive, stretching tall like a tree, wide like a star, or long like a snake, making movement feel fun, safe, and exciting.
Throughout the challenge, students learn to listen to their bodies and pay attention to how each stretch feels, supporting the development of mindfulness and body awareness. They also build confidence by sharing their movements with others in a supportive group. Biggest Stretch Challenge creates a joyful, energetic space where children can move freely, be creative, and celebrate what makes their bodies strong and unique.
I Am Awesome
I Am Awesome is a joyful, confidence-boosting activity that invites students to think deeply about what makes them special. By drawing a picture of themselves in the centre of the page and reflecting on three things that make them unique, students build self-awareness and start to recognise their own strengths, talents, and qualities. The creative process helps children express who they are visually, while also giving them a fun and engaging way to celebrate the things they’re proud of.
After finishing their drawings and identifying their awesome qualities, students share their ideas with the group, practising positive verbal expression and building confidence as they speak about themselves in a supportive environment. This activity encourages children to feel proud of who they are and appreciate what makes them unique, fostering a classroom culture filled with kindness, encouragement, and self-belief. "I Am Awesome" is a simple yet powerful way to help students embrace their strengths and celebrate themselves.

Alice in Wonderland Movement Adventure
Alice in Wonderland Movement Adventure takes students on a magical, high-energy journey where storytelling and fitness come together in the most playful way. As students follow Alice through Wonderland, they act out each moment of the story through fun, imaginative movements, chasing the White Rabbit with bunny hops, shrinking down just like Alice with tiny-ball squats, dodging danger with lunges, and balancing through the Mad Hatter’s tea party. The adventure keeps students active and engaged from start to finish, helping them improve strength, balance, and coordination while feeling like they’re part of the story.
This imaginative movement adventure encourages students to think creatively, follow instructions, and immerse themselves fully in the world of Wonderland. Each action is designed to build physical fitness while sparking curiosity and excitement, making the activity a perfect way to warm up, energise a lesson, or create a joyful movement break. With no winners or losers, the goal is simple, have fun, get moving, and experience the wonder of blending story and exercise into one unforgettable adventure.
Gratitude Cloud
Gratitude Cloud is a gentle, creative activity that invites students to pause, reflect, and focus on something in their life that brings them joy. By drawing or writing one thing they are thankful for on a cloud-shaped piece of paper, students practise gratitude in a simple, meaningful way. The process encourages them to slow down, think positively, and appreciate the special people, moments, and experiences that make them happy. Using drawing and colouring helps students express their gratitude visually, building both emotional awareness and artistic confidence.
Once each cloud is complete, students come together to build a collective “gratitude sky” by placing all their clouds onto a shared wall or bulletin board. This collaborative display becomes a visual celebration of positivity, showing how each student’s unique gratitude contributes to a warm, supportive community. As the sky fills, students proudly see how their individual reflections help create something beautiful together. Gratitude Cloud is a simple, uplifting activity that strengthens emotional well-being, creativity, and connection in any classroom or family space.
